11/6/2020 1 Comment Walk Two Moons EpilogueHi!
Along with tips on what to do during quarantine I said I would be posting some of my writing projects! The project I am posting is an Epilogue to Walk Two Moons, a book written by Sharon Creech. I will be releasing each part daily! Enjoy! Epilogue Part 1 When I woke up I could not wait for my friends’ arrival. My father and I had been preparing for weeks. It almost reminded me of when Prudence and Mr. Winterbottom had prepared for Mrs. Winterbottom. Cleaning up and then messing things up. Maybe if my mother would have decided to return, my father would have been like that. Perhaps even I would have been like that. After lunch Gramps came over to check on us. I think he wanted to see Phoebe. He was a bit disappointed when I told him she was coming later at night. Gramps stayed with us a while. The hours went by. We were so excited! I wonder how Phoebe was doing with Mr. Birkway. In a way I miss Euclid, Ohio more than I thought I would. I feel I have friends there, people who I can trust. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bybanks and it will always be my real home. On my way back from milking the cow, I heard a bird singing. I thought about my trip to the bus accident where my mother had died. I wonder if she had thought about me when the bus crashed. When I finally got back home, I saw my father talking to gramps. They seemed so alike now. Both had lost people they had loved. I wonder if they have a nest of sadness in their hair. An invisible nest perhaps, that only they could see. I have one. I have two nests. One for my mother, and one for Gram. When my friends had finally arrived, Phoebe lept out of the car like she had been suffocating. Then came Mr. Birkway. I understood why Phoebe was so desperate to leave. Mr. Birkway is the kind of teacher who had probably been lecturing throughout the trip. He gave me a quick hello and ran into the house. From the front of the car came Mrs. Cadaver and Mrs. Partridge. Mrs. Cadaver gave me a kind but awkward hug and started towards the house to greet my father. When Mrs. Partridge stumbled out of the car, she demanded to feel my face. She then inferred I had grown. I just wanted to push through everyone and see Ben. Where was he? Before I could ask or even stay just to make sure he wasn’t still in the car, Phoebe dragged me up to the room we were sharing. When we got there she immediately locked the door. There she told me that she had found out who Ben wrote about in his journal.
